Russell Motor Cars: 1912 |
The lineup for 1912
remained the same as the previous year, the Russell
Model R and the Russell-Knight Models 22, 26, and
38. Electric starters were available for the
first time. This was the first full year of
production by the Russell Motor Car Company, which had
been formed in 1911. A February, 1912, Ottawa
Journal news item that describes a six-cylinder
Russell-Knight limousine suggests that the 6 cylinder
model was introduced during 1912. (It is
possible that the article references a
not-yet-available car.)
Some changes for 1912: crank stays in the 12:00 position side body trim runs beneath both doors instead of around each door individually headlight forks mount to the fender instead of down to the frame front fender inside wall extends further forward to accommodate the headlight fork mount. Grey & Davis lights seem to be standard, oil/electric side lamps rear inside door handles moved down to top of door panel instead of poking up through the top of the door toolboxes no longer on the running board (on "38" and "26" models).
