At midday, the Reo stopped in at The Tin Lizzie Car Barn where owner Margaret Kentner and manager Jim Higham showed the Findlays and John Nicol through the large collection of fine cars and automotive memorabilia. Among those cars on display was a 1910 Reo one cylinder runabout. After the tour the group enjoyed a fine lunch at the museum's restaurant.
The afternoon's drive was a short one, concluding at historic Fort La Reine, just outside Portage La Prairie. The Fort is a replica of one built in 1738 by the French Explorer La Verendrye. The museum also features many historic local buildings which have been moved to this site. Members of the Vintage Cruisers Auto Club were on hand to greet the Reo and welcome the travellers to Portage La Prairie.
The original Fort La Reine was located on nearby Assiniboine River. It was a busy fur trading location, at the place where natives used to carry their canoes from the river to Lake Manitoba. The current city of Portage La Prairie has grown up in the same location and is largely an agricultural city.
After harvesting, the farmers are beginning to clear their fields. This one
has been burnt in rows.
