To Wilby and Haney, Ontario presented many challenges. Their route through the province would cover over 2500 kilometres, much of it over extremely rugged terrain. In some places there was no possible way to continue and the car had to be shipped by rail or by ferry.

At times, it was difficult to find a shop that sold gasoline, so each day's journey had to be carefully planned.
