The Welland Canal Locks
The lock, with no ship, is full to the higher water level
A freighter enters from the high water side of the lock and the lock
is sealed shut.
The water level in the lock is lowered 14 m, then the ship sails out
the low water end.
Here the lock is empty, waiting for the next ship to enter.
