Distance: 124 km Driving Hours: 2.5 h Fuel: 27 l Weather: Rainy Temperature: Min. 4 Max. 11

On this day the driving was almost all downhill as the Reo made its way from Cranbrook to Creston, a drop of about 300 metres. The drive was easy, although rain fell for much of the day.

Before leaving Cranbrook, the Findlays visited the Canadian Museum of Rail Travel. The museum has an excellent collection of restored railway cars and gives visitors a glimpse of the elegance of Canadian rail travel in the first half of this century.

The drive from Cranbrook followed the scenic Moyie River valley. Since the Reo crossed the continental divide in the Crowsnest Pass yesterday, all rivers are making their way westward, eventually reaching the Pacific Ocean. Shortly before lunch the Findlays and John Nicol set their clocks back one hour as they entered the Pacific time zone.

After a quick lunch at Yahk Provincial Park, the Findlays and John Nicol found an unused section of railway siding. Remembering that Jack Haney had driven from Yahk to Kitchener along the tracks, they carefully positioned the Reo on the tracks to take some photos. The short ride along the ties proved to be very bumpy and unpleasant. Jack Haney was a brave man.

The day finished in the fertile Creston Valley. Surrounded by tall mountains, the valley offers an abundance of crops, particulary tree fruits such as apples and cherries. Also in the valley is the Creston Valley Wildlife Management Area, a wetlands area that is a major stopover for migrating water fowl, including Tundra Swans.

The stop in Creston provided an opportunity to have yet another trailer tire repaired, this time courtesy of Creston Big-O Tires. The Findlays were grateful for this help along the way as another successful day drew to a close.
